GPU Database Research | Community Meeting 15/08/2016

On August 15th we hold the “5th Community Meeting on GPUs and Databases” at the TU Dresden, organized by the local database systems group and the Dresden GPU Center of Excellence. The meeting was well attended with 21 attendees from six different universities and three different companies or research centers. People came not only from database research areas but also from compiler research, mobile communication, computational radiation physics, and GPGPU programming.
We had a total of eight research talks, with topics ranging from database query compilation for GPUs, query execution models, hardware abstractions, to query optimization for and with heterogeneous hardware. All in all, the meeting was a great success, bringing the community closer together and fostering future collaborations.
